Step 1 – Review Career Opportunities & Apply Online
To take advantage of the Driver Solutions company paid truck driving school program, you’ll first need to review the trucking company job opportunities as well as the general trucking career information in the Understanding Trucking portion of this website. Our goal is to educate you about what a great career truck driving is and help you make the right career decision. No previous truck driving experience is necessary.
The Online Application Process
The company paid truck driving school program is based upon Driver Solutions first matching you with the right trucking company and the right job. Although driving a truck is pretty much the same job from company to company, trucking companies have specific geographical hiring areas or may offer regional or dedicated routes. Driver Solutions will take into account where you live and other personal needs or qualifications. The first step begins with the Online Driver Application. In order to determine your qualifications and the best job opportunity, you need to complete the Online Driver Application.
Step 2 – Speak With Your Driver Agent
After you submit the completed application, it will be reviewed by your personal Driver Agent. The Driver Agent’s role is to make recommendations regarding the best opportunity, qualify your driver application, answer any questions and make all arrangements for the CDL training.
Step 3 – Choose A Driver Solutions Network Trucking Company

Step 4 – Qualifying Your Driver Application
Your Driver Agent will begin a background check (required by the Department of Transportation) which includes a review of your driving record (also known as a motor vehicle report or MVR); a criminal report and verification of your work history. Step 5 – Attend The Company-Paid Truck Driving School
Once your application has been qualified by your Driver Agent, you will be scheduled for the CDL training at an approved truck driver training school within the Driver Solutions Network. The CDL training is typically a 3 week program that includes classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction on how to drive a tractor trailer. In order to obtain your CDL license, you will take the required CDL skills test to assess your driving skills at the end of the CDL training program.
Step 6 – Begin Working for the Trucking Company
After you successfully complete the CDL training program, you will begin your new career with the trucking company that sponsored the truck driver training school. Your employment will begin with over-the-road (OTR) training, which is paid on-the-job training with an experienced driver. The goal of the OTR training is to hone your driving skills in a real world environment. Once you complete the OTR training, you will become a "first seat" driver.
